Sarah Palin Is Energy Nut Case-Calls For Socialized Energy

CNN just carried Sarah Palin's speech from Toledo Ohio on Energy...the lady is a religious nut case with no firm grasp on the topic of Energy. She touts experience that is not there, and with every word out of her mouth, it becomes obvious that she is without a clue. First, her drill baby drill is offensive, and shows zero respect for the environment. This should not be a surprise as she has filed two law suits objecting to the Federal Government's placement of animals onto the endangered species list...why you might ask...because having. as example. Polar Bears on the list interferes with some of her own pet projects. Putting whales on the endangered species list in Alaska endangers her own SECOND BRIDGE TO NOWHERE, a $600 Million dollar bridge to serve the 7,000 residents of Wasilla, Alaska.

Her beloved pipeline might not even be built, and even if it makes it from the drawing board into reality, it represents a drop in the bucket, not a solution. When you put it into perspective, when you realize we would not see a cubic foot of gas from said pipeline before 2025, she is blowing smoke up our collective asses.

She goes on to say that she and John McCain will see to it that America will build 45 New nuclear reactors by 2030...sorry, but it cannot be done, and even if the obstacles could be overcome, are we prepared for Socialized Energy that rapes the American Taxpayer, and the American energy consumer, while ruining our environment, bringing cancers and birth defects to our doorsteps?

1. There is a horrific manpower shortage in the nuclear industry, and it will take at least one decade to address that shortage. The reality is simple...there are not enough qualified and trained employees to build, manage and operate 45 new reactors by 2030.

2. Even if the manpower issues were resolved, there is not enough manufacturing base to get the necessary parts to meet Sarah Palin's timeline for 45 new reactors. Further, the NEI, the NRC and our government is wrongfully assuming that American Communities will welcome these new reactors with open arms, assumes they can simply force communities already hosting old, outdated and problematic reactors into accepting FURTHER RISKS.

3. Wall Street will not fund 45 new reactors, which is why the nuclear industry wants our tax dollars to build those nuclear reactors, even though they will be owned and operated by private for profit companies. What is wrong with this picture? With our taxes, we build the reactors, but our government gives them over to private companies that will then BILL US FOR OUR ENERGY, energy being supplied because we built the facility...talk about a redistribution of wealth. Additionally, if Nuclear Energy is so SAFE, VITAL and SECURE, end the Price Anderson Act that keeps every American from getting nuclear accident insurance to protect their own assets, their own homes, their own health!

Further, nuclear cannot exist as a viable industry unless it remains always a socialized industry subsidized with our taxes in a never ending bailout. GNEP (the Global Nuclear Energy Program) asks the American Taxpayer to underwrite a $1.5 -$5 Trillion dollar nuclear reprocessing plant that might not even work. Further, and very important...the fuel that would be created if the process does work cannot be used in the 45 AP1000 Nuclear Reactors that John McCain wants to build! Even more deplorable, GNEP makes America the nuclear waste dump for the entire world's nuclear energy programs and reactors. Are you as a citizen prepared to have China, Russia, North Korea and other rogue nations wastes being shipped across the world's oceans to the doorsteps of America? Are you willing to risk your child, your wife, your husband, your mother having CANCER in the name of reprocessing fuel for a country that abuses human rights, oppresses the people of Tibet, imprisons their populations, putting them into forced labor camps, using them in the name of Capitalizing China?

Are you, your children and their children's children prepared to pay the costs that this international socialized Energy Program will bring about? With every new reactor comes more breast cancer, more childhood leukemia, more birth defects, more stillborn children. Nuclear Energy is AN ABORTION MACHINE that every Pro-Life American should be up in arms about. Sarah Palin is a hypocrite to claim she is Pro Life will endorsing a Energy Program that puts the unborn child at a far greater risk than abortion ever has or will. GNEP will make America the world's Nuclear Waste Dump, and with that new global responsibility, we are inviting a Holocaust into America of proportions that will far outstrip those visited upon the Jews with Germany's NAZI Death Camps.

Palin The Pit Bull Talks Oil

Scary, Sarah Palin is talking oil, and it is so obvious that she really does not have any clue in the world, is just too far out there religiously.

First, America's oil supplies are not that good. Secondly, scares the hell out of me when anyone is up there on stage, televsion cameras sending their image all around the world talking about how God has blessed us as a nation with so much oil. Thirdly, we need to GET AWAY FROM OIL as a energy supply, and we need to learn the concept that LESS IS MORE. Perhaps Sarah Palin's down home folksy simplicity works for Alaskan's, and a handful of radical right wing women who have no clue, but she does not, and NEVER SHOULD work for, nor speak America.

On Nuclear Energy, she just promised 45 New Reactors by 2030...first, it cannot be done. We do not have the staff to man 45 new reactors, do not have the expertise to build 45 new reactors by 2030. Even if those obstacles can be overcome, there are not enough parts and manufacturing plants to allow that many to be built by the year 2030. Further, even without cost overruns, you are talking 15 Billion a nuclear reactor...guess who the nuclear industry wants paying the bill? US, as in the American Taxpayer. Now, if we are going to be asked to pay for it, WHERE IS OUR OWNERSHIP? It is NOT THERE. We would pay the build the infrastructure that is supply us our electricity, then turn around and have to PAY FOR THE ELECTRICITY that is being produced...isn't that transfer of wealth, isn't that Socialized Energy?

Lastly...CARBON CREDITS...that is just a way of making the middle class pay a pass through fee FOR NOTHING...it is a con game, a shell game where BIG BUSINESS trades carbon offsets under the guise of being Green, with you and I picking up the tab.

The Great Nuclear Industry Bailout

Greetings Readers...about to head out the door to camp here, and looking forward to taking a break from my blogs. If you have not visited my other blog project started back on December 26th, 2006 I would encourage you to give Green Nuclear Butterfly a read.

On a more serious note, am sharing an article I posted up on that site earlier today over my morning coffee...

I would ask EVERY AMERICAN, every WORLD CITIZEN to give some serious thought to the Wall Street financial tragedy we have all watched over the past few weeks. Fact is, if we do not rein in the Nuclear Industry, if we do not say NO TO THEIR LOAN GUARANTEES, if we do not get the NRC and the IAEA to restrengthen the regulations they have WEAKENED year after year in their quest to keep this industry on LIFE SUPPORT, Wall Streets near collapse will look like a beautiful drive through the fall foliage as the leaves change. Buffett bought into the nuclear industry because he spied a BARGAIN, is a HAWK swooping down and eating the weak for his own financial gain, not because he believes nuclear to be a safe alternative energy source, and if he thinks it is, I'm sadly disappointed at his lack of adequate research of BOTH sides of the issue. He bought a nuclear company that was UNDER CAPITALIZED, a company on the verge of failing...is Entergy or Exelon next?

Simply stated, we as a nation, and as a world are at GRAVE RISK as a result the IAEA and the NRC's lack of oversight, lack of adequate security, and WEAKENED REGULATORY CONTROL. The IAEA is all but bankrupt, the NRC has admitted to a SEVERE shortage of qualified workers for this dying industry, and many regulations meant to protect Human Health and the Environment have been weakened to a point where America's 104 Nuclear Reactors are being run in an extremely unsafe manner, begging a cataclysmic accident that America and the World will never fully recover from.

The industry seeks literally TRILLIONS in the form of a bailout, labeling the taxpayer funded gifts as NECESSARY, claiming every penny will be returned to us...remember the promise of the nuclear industry...ENERGY SO CHEAP IT WILL NOT BE WORTH METERING. 50 years later, the industry cannot stand on its own, the industry has not disposed safely on one singular ounce of their waste streams. Because of the DOE and NRC's inability to figure out the science and technology necessary to build a long term storage facility, 104 nuclear reactor sites in America have become DEFACTO radioactive waste DUMP SITES, yet our government refuses to take action, refuses to be accountable to America's MAIN STREET citizens being forced to live on the edge of impending doom.

Both Presidential candidates (Obama and McCain) have delivered campaign trail rhetoric of new clean, green energy...problem is, nuclear is neither CLEAN, OR GREEN. We have a choice, but only if we make our voices heard. Imagine the giant forward strides that would occur if we took those TRILLIONS of dollars the nuclear industry wanted, and invested them in solar, wind, geo thermal and clean coal technologies, research and implementation. If you are truly green, if you truly want to reverse global warming, if you want to leave this world a better place for your children and grand children, then the time has come to TAKE A STAND...say no to Nuclear Energy, say no to Nuclear Industry Bailouts, and say no too the Rubber Stamping of the NRC's License Renewal Application Process...fact is, by relicensing these aging, dilapidated reactors, the NRC is playing Russian Roulette with our health, safety and financial well being.

If You Think Wall Street Bailout Is Bad, Look At The 1.5-5 TRILLION Dollar Bailout of Nuclear Industry

If you think the bailout of Wall Street, the $700 Billion dollar pork barrel bill to fund it is bad, you should begin looking into the Bailout of the Nuclear Industry under the guise of a Nuclear Renaissance. Between Nuclear 2010, the GNEP Program, guaranteed loans for some 200 new reactors that the industry wants to built, taxpayers are going to be on the hook for anywhere from $1.5 to $5 TRILLION (yes, with a T) dollars! In the mean time, to get there, they are playing Russian Roulette with human health and the environment by RUBBER STAMPING the License Renewal Applications of 104 aging, brittle reactors that could explode because of brittlization of the cores should an incident occur that exposes them to thermal shock...such as having to dump cool water into the reactor in an attempt to halt a core meltdown. “Communications have been severely disrupted, and the number of casualties and the extent of the damage are not yet known. We will bring you more information as it becomes available, and we ask you to please stay tuned."

Half an hour later:

“We are suggesting that all citizens shelter in place.”

“You may die if you go outside.”

“Keep your family and pets inside.”

“Turn off heaters, air conditioners and any other ventilation systems.”

“Extinguish fires in fireplaces and close dampers.”

“Stay tuned to the Emergency Alert System (EAS) stations.”

“Avoid using telephones, including cell phones, to prevent overloading the system and interfering with emergency use.”

“Again, do not go outside, or you may die.”

“Please stay tuned for additional instructions.”

Half an hour later:

“You will die if you go outside.”

“Remember, there is nothing to be gained by trying to get away.”

“By leaving your houses you will be exposing yourselves to greater danger.”

If you leave your homes you will find yourself without foot, without water, without accommodation and without protection.”

“The public is told to turn off all fuel and gas supplies and to ration food because no fresh food can be expected for two weeks or longer. Water is also to be rationed for essential drinking and cooking needs.”

Far fetched ramblings of a mad man, a fear monger? No, this script, slightly altered is very similar to one recently released by the National Archives, changed to fit the very real danger we all face if Indian Point is re-licensed, allowed to operate for another 20 years. The last shreads of any respect left for the once talented actor rain down the drain when he did a PHOTO OP at the aging Indain Point nuclear reactors that are leaking tritium and strontium 90, and pronounced them vital safe and secure.

Suppose there is a certain justice that he died of cancer.

Refuting NEI's Latest Study on Tax Payer Support To Industry

With America's anger seething at the $770 Billion dollar bailout of Wall Street, NEI is releasing a report wherein they assure American's they are getting very little taxpayer supported bailouts of thier industry. Simply stated, the report is all smoke and mirrors, crafted to HIDE THE HUGE amounts of money (into the trillions) that Americans are being asked to pay for, have paid for to save the nuclear industry.

As one example, hundreds of millions of dollars are being funnelled through the DOE to colleges willing to train new nuclear industry employees. Simply stated, we Americans are being forced to pay for the training costs of Nuclear Industry Employees. Secondly, the study fails to include the money so far spent on GNEP (Global Nuclear Energy Program), fails to mention the $1.5 Trillion in funding needed to deploy this UNTESTED technology that will not work.

Let's talk about the Price Anderson Act that precludes EVERY AMERICAN from getting insurance to cover lossed from a nuclear incident at any one of the 104 aging nuclear reactors in America. Let's talk about the billions dumped into trying to find and site a long term disposal facility in America...THINK YUCCA MOUNTAIN.

The nuclear industry wants to build 200 new Nuclear Reactors in America by the year 2050...first, it cannot be done. Secondly, the nuclear industry wants a ONE PERCENT LOAN GUARANTEE, stating that Wall Street will not invest in the industry without these loan guarantees. The average new reactor is expected to cost $10 Billion dollars! (Note-history shows us there is going to be at least a 70 percent cost over run on these costs, so real cost is closer to $17 Billion). Do the math, and the Nuclear Industry wants to put Americans on the hook in the form of LOAN GUARANTEES to the tune of $3.4 TRILLION DOLLARS, or almost five times the amount of the current Wall Street Bailout now under discussion in Washington, DC.

As Americans tired of funding corporate profits, it is time we demand the end to Nuclear Industry Bailouts, time to tell our elected officials that the days of subsidizing nuclear industry profits MUST COME TO AN END. At 50 years old, it is time for the nuclear industry to pay its own way, or GO OUT OF BUSINESS.

New Study Shows That Federal Energy Incentives Have Chiefly Benefited Oil, Natural Gas Industries
Renewables Incentives Outpace Nuclear Energy Since 1994

(Washington DC) Sept. 23, 2008 — The main beneficiaries of more than $700 billion of federal energy incentives over the past five decades have been the oil and natural gas industries, a new study reveals. The oil and natural gas industries together garnered 60 percent of federal incentives between 1950 and 2006, with 46 percent of the roughly $725 billion in federal support going to the oil sector, according to the report by the consulting firm Management Information Services Inc (MISI).

The report shows that the oil industry has benefited from $335 billion in combined incentives, with natural gas receiving $100 billion.
