SMart Grid...Subject to Hackers, Or Not? That is The Question.

OH MY GOD! HAckers could break into the Smart Grid!...or not. I would venture to say the Smart Grid like everything else in the world (including this laptop I am working on) is subject to an every changing number of security vulnerabilities. It's part of living in a technological world. However, when reading the CNN security correspondent's article on the Smart Grid security vulnerabilities, was struck by a sense of CON, as in CON JOB. I am not doubting that we could have a MAJOR BLACK OUT caused through a deliberate attack of the smart grid...so what, we could have hundreds of thousands of lost lives from a successful terrorist attack on a Nuclear Reactor site, but do not see Jeanne Meserve writing that story.

I am suggesting we take her story with a VERY LARGE GRAIN OF SALT...she does not report the WHOLE STORY, but instead calls her story complete because she sites TWO INDUSTRY EXPERTS in her story...two industry experts that STAND TO MAKE A LOT OF MONEY if they are successful in slowing Smart Grid down until they get a larger piece of the pie by adding on a lot more of their companies security programs. Her first expert, "Ed Skoudis, a co-founder of InGuardians, a network security research and consulting firm" warns against rolling out the system to fast. Her other source, IO Active warns of a MAJOR TAKE OVER OF THE SYSTEM with an investment of just $500...sort of kind of.

Not to cast dispersions on the reporter here, but WHAT IS IN IT FOR HER in using this two examples? There is a $4.5 Billion dollar pile of money on the table for Smart Grid, and neither of these two names came up on the front page when googling Smart Grid...but, there being in your article sure puts them FRONT AND CENTER. Tell us Jeanne Meserve, do you have any kind of a relationship/association with any of the sources in this article?

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Is it really so smart to forge ahead with the high technology, digitally based electricity distribution and transmission system known as the "Smart Grid"? Tests have shown that a hacker can break into the system, and cybersecurity experts said a massive blackout could result.

If someone hacked into the Smart Grid, experts say it could cause a blackout that stretches across the country.

If someone hacked into the Smart Grid, experts say it could cause a blackout that stretches across the country.

Until the United States eliminates the Smart Grid's vulnerabilities, some experts said, deployment should proceed slowly.

"I think we are putting the cart before the horse here to get this stuff rolled out very fast," said Ed Skoudis, a co-founder of InGuardians, a network security research and consulting firm.

The Smart Grid will use automated meters, two-way communications and advanced sensors to improve electricity efficiency and reliability. The nation's utilities have embraced the concept and are installing millions of automated meters on homes across the country, the first phase in Smart Grid's deployment. President Obama has championed Smart Grid, and the recent stimulus bill allocated $4.5 billion for the high-tech program.

But cybersecurity experts said some types of meters can be hacked, as can other points in the Smart Grid's communications systems. IOActive, a professional security services firm, determined that an attacker with $500 of equipment and materials and a background in electronics and software engineering could "take command and control of the [advanced meter infrastructure] allowing for the en masse manipulation of service to homes and businesses."

CAlling Out CNN...Ask The Question, "Why With 8.1 Percent Unemployment Do Over Seven Million Illegal Aliens Still Have Jobs?"

CNN, you are GUILTY of participating in a Main Street American Genocide...you are not the only ones, but I watch your news cast far more frequently than I do FOX, ABC or other network stations. All day you have been asking, and then supposedly showing us where all the jobs are with your fancy graphs, but you are REFUSING TO ASK THE QUESTION. "If we have a national unemployment rate of 8.1 percent, if over 11 Million Legal Americans are out of work, why is it that our Government is allowing over seven million illegal alien criminals to keep their jobs?"

E Verify is over 99 percent effective...why isn't it being fully funded and implemented? Where is massive ICE Enforcement at work places? Perhaps most importantly, why are the American Press, our government and our elected officials all participating in this MASSIVE MAIN STREET AMERICAN WORKER GENOCIDE? We here on Main Street and you CNN know where the jobs are...what happens to the Unemployment Rate if we FIRE ALL THOSE SCAB LABORERS, THOSE ILLEGAL ALIEN CRIMINAL SCUM AND DEPORT THEM BACK TO THEIR HOME COUNTRIES...save your RACE CHARGE...this is a law and order issue, this is an US OR THEM issue, and your silence in asking the REAL QUESTION speaks volumes. Why should Illegal Alien Criminals KEEP THEIR JOBS?

Illegal Aliens ARE CRIMINALS. Illegal Aliens, over seven million of them have our Main Street American jobs! Come on CNN...you call yourself a NEWS STATION! REPORT THE NEWS! ALL OF IT, report the FACT THAT SEVEN MILLION ILLEGAL ALIENS ARE STILL WORKING WHILE ELEVEN MILLION LEGAL AMERICAN CITIZENS ARE OUT OF WORK, THEIR CHILDREN STARVING. Show us here on Main Street that your station is NOT OWNED BY THE SAME CORPORATE LOBBYISTS THAT OWN OBAMA AND HIS DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS.

Al Sharpton and The Black Community's Chimp Jihad Continues, NAACP Issues Career Death Sentence To Post Cartoonist

The whole Al Sharpton, "I'm Offended" Chimp Jihad continues as the NAACP steps in calling for the firing of Post Cartoonist and the Editor. Sorry, but with each passing day, this cartoon saga gets scarier by the moment...we are not the Middle East, Al Sharpton is not some Blind Cleric issuing FATWA'S to his disciples...or maybe he is?

I have no problems with Al Sharpton seeing whatever it is he wants to see in a cartoon, but it does not make it so, nor does he have the right to become Obama's censorship point man. Obama DOES NOT WRITE LAWS, in fact it would go against OUR CONSTITUTION...but why let a little thing like THE FACTS get in the way of a really good opportunity to GET IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA...right Mr. Sharpton? Why let FACTS get in the way of a chance to raise some more donations...right NAACP? They should not have, but the Post issued and apology...GET OVER IT ALREADY...this simply is not a Nappy Headed Whores moment in American History.

GOD FORBID any cartoonist actually does portray the FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT in a negative fashion...he/she might find themselves dragged through the streets, their editors being burned in effigy on Times Square.

Seriously Al Sharpton, Roland Martin and anyone else including the NAACP that is pushing this stupidity....GROW SOME SKIN.

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Leaders of the NAACP on Saturday called for the firing of the New York Post cartoonist whose drawing lampooning the federal stimulus bill has drawn charges that it's racist and encourages violence toward President Obama.

NAACP's Benjamin Todd Jealous says the organization will take issue "national" if Post cartoonist isn't fired." hspace=0 src="http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/US/02/21/chimp.cartoon/art.todd.jealous.cnn.jpg" width=292>

NAACP's Benjamin Todd Jealous says the organization will take issue "national" if Post cartoonist isn't fired.

Speaking at the civil rights group's annual meeting in New York, NAACP President Benjamin Todd Jealous said that if Sean Delonas is not fired, the group will call for protests of the paper and Fox television affiliates, which are owned by Post parent company News Corp.

"There is consensus that if the Post does not ... get rid of the journalists who are responsible for this bit of hate speech seeing the light of day, that we will move this from a local, regional issue to a very national issue," Jealous said.

The group also called for the cartoonist's editor to be fired.

Many critics said the cartoon played on historically racist images by appearing to compare Obama, the nation's first black president, to a chimpanzee that had been shot by police officers.

The cartoon references the mauling of a Connecticut woman by a chimpanzee who was later shot and killed by police.
