Should Main Street America Plan Protests For World Financial Summit?

Just out from the White House...seems that George Bush is going to hold a WORLD SUMMIT on the Economy in 23 days. Question becomes, should Main Street America take the necessary steps to show up in very large numbers for this Summit to have our voices heard? Has the time come for say 25,000 Truckers and their Rigs to converge on Washington, bringing complete GRIDLOCK to the beltway? Should 25,000 farmers and their tractors converge on Washington, parking their farm equipment on OUR WHITE HOUSE LAWN. Has the time come for the average OUT OF WORK AMERICAN to converge on Washington, DC to demand that our government DEPORT ALL ILLEGAL ALIENS?

Do not kid yourself Middle America, this World Financial Summit will not be about you and I, but instead about saving the UBER RICH, about saving the economies of other nations, but there will be NOTHING for Main Street America, we will not be discussed unless we MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD. We need to put 25 Million hard hit and oppressed citizens in Washington DC for this Financial Crisis Summit.

March for a Middle Class Bailout.
March to say NO TO AMNESTY for Illegal Aliens.
March to demand a LIVING WAGE.
March to Demand Criminal Convictions of Lobbyist and Wall Street Crooks.
March for a MAIN STREET BAILOUT.
March to Bring Our Troops Home.
March to Save Our Houses
March to Save Social Security
March for Green Jobs
March to End Nuclear Industry Bailout
March to Send Message to New President that we DEMAND A CHANGE AGENDA.

From Political Ticker...Palin Identifies Bad Guys...Some Commentary

I used to live about 40 miles from where Palin delivered her BAD GUYS rant today in St. Clairsville. That quandrant of Ohio is truly part of the Heartland of America...good, hard working country folks doing their best to keep a roof over their heads, and food on the table. They may not have two pennies to rub together, but they'd give you the shirt off their backs. They are simple people (not stupid) who live simple hard working lives, people who don't always have the opportunity that should be afforded every American, but to often is not. Sarah Palin loves to prey on people like this, Sarah Palin plays on their passions, takes advantage of their very real love of God and Country.

Just in on CNN's Political Ticker is a report of her stump appearance in St. Clairsvile, her targeted words meant to paint Barack Obama as one of them, as one of the BAD GUYS. She rallied the crowd to put her and John McCain in the White House because, in her words, “we know who the bad guys are.” The inference is CLEAR, the bad guys are (as Bush has said) anyone that does not agree with us, anyone that is different that us, anyone that happens to be black and has a name like Barack Hussein Obama.

I can hear Sarah Palin now, a highschool cheerleader exciting the crowd before the big game, whipping their emotions into a frenzy:

“Help me, Ohio, to help put John McCain in the White House,” she said. “He understands. He understands you. We understand how important it is that this team be elected. For one thing, we know who the bad guys are, OK?”

Sarah Palin is right about one thing, she does understand these people, and she knows just how to MANIPULATE THEM, push their buttons, enflame their passion, and agitate old boils until they are once again seething open festering wounds as old prejudice are played upon, encouraged, used for her own evil purpose. She and John McCain, perhaps the entire Republican Party will do anything to keep a black man from taking up residence in the White House.

The gathered crowd takes the bait, her red meat sending them into a frenzy as some of them start shouting back at her, "Obama, Obama, Obama". She continues on, pressing her advantages, smiling to herself:

“We know that in the war, it’s terrorists, terrorists who hate America and her allies and would seek to destroy us, and the bad guys are those who would support and sympathize with the terrorists,” she said. “They do not like America because of what we stand for. Liberty. Freedom. Equal rights. Those who sympathize and support those terrorists who would seek to destroy all that it is that we value, those are the bad guys, OK?”

These are simple folk, people who willing send their sons and daughters off to fight for the Red, White and Blue, people who place a great deal of importance on God, and love of country, love of America. I have lived among these people, broke bread with them on Sunday afternoons. Like a large mouthed bass found in an old farm pond, Sarah Pond has hooked her prey, is getting ready to reel them in. She moves on, ready to tar and feather the object of her scorn and hatred:

“greedy and corrupt and arrogant”

These are simple people, some might even say oppressed. They do not have the opportunities that some Americans have, their schools most times even more ill equipped than some of our worst inner city schools, living in counties where sometimes half of the population is recieving some kind of federal assistance just to survive.

"mavens of Wall Street and Washington who have pushed the nation’s economy to the brink."

You can see the Pep Rally construcion of her words!

“We know who the good guys are, and it is you, and we will fight for you, and we will put government on your side,”

You can almost see the local high school football team about to burst through the hand painted banner, ready to rush on too the field.

“We will end the arrogant and the selfish practices of Washington and of Wall Street because your United States government is to be of the people, by the people, for the people.”

She is ready, it is time to pull the trigger, release the now ANGRY hordes, send them forth to fight for VICTORY, send them off to fight for God and Country, send them off to elect John McCain as our next president to save America from the BAD GUYS, to save the United States from Barack Hussein Obama!

“All across America, I know that there’s a lot of anger right now,”

Forget Joan of Arch, this monster, this evil Mistress of the dark is the modern day evil twin of Eva Peron reborn. she does not care for the common man, nor the hockey moms of America, but instead preys on them, a political sexual predator seeking out her victims, using them for her own sick twisted desires, ready throw them to the trash heap once she has moved on.

“There’s anger about the insider dealing of lobbyists and anger at the greed of Wall Street, and anger about the arrogance of the Washington elite. And with serious reforms to change Washington, John McCain is going to turn your anger into action.”

I'll Keep Trying Till I Get It Right...McCain To Roll Out New Economic Package

Just in on the wires...John McCain is considering the roll out of a new Economic Revitalization Plan, but don't hold your breath expecting anything new from the old geezer. It's just a lot more of the same tired old trickle down from the top, let them eat cake Republican economic voodoo that we have all heard before. Low tax rates for investors (rich people like Warren Buffett), lower capital gains taxes (for UBER RICH people), and of course lower dividend tax rates (for the just plain filthy rich). This news leaked out by Mr. Deregulation himself, Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.

McCain considering new economic plan

By David Wiessler 1 hour, 2 minutes ago

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate John McCain is considering rolling out a new comprehensive economic package to tackle the U.S. financial crisis, one of his closest supporters said on Sunday.

"I think it goes along the lines that now is the time to lower tax rates for investors, capital gains tax, dividend tax rates, to make sure that we can get the economy jump-started," said Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.

McCain, 72, was in the Washington area and off the campaign trail on Sunday, prepared for his debate on Wednesday against Democratic rival Barack Obama.

Indonesian Stock Exchange CLOSED To Halt Panic

In breaking news...the Indonesian Stock Exchange has been CLOSED INDEFINITELY to halt continued panic! Who is next? Indonesian stock exchange halted indefinitely

http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2008-10-09-indonesia_N.htm?csp=34

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — The president of the Indonesian stock exchange says trading will be suspended indefinitely "to prevent deeper panic" after another huge drop on Wall Street.

Indonesian authorities planned to reopen the market Friday morning after a suspension was imposed Wednesday.

But a last-minute change of plan has been announced after Asian stocks tumbled Friday morning amid fears of a global economic downturn.

Bourse President Erry Firmansyah says, "The situation is not yet conducive. This is to prevent deeper panic. It will be closed indefinitely while we will continue to monitor."

Market jitters have driven down the benchmark JSX index 21% this week. The index is down 47% this year, making it one of the worst performers in Asia.

The Innocents Compensation Board...Make Main Street Whole

The Innocents Compensation Fund

Author: Sherwood Martinelli, aka Royce Penstinger

In the past say 18 months we have watched the United States Economy unravel, have watched as our mortgages became upside-down, watched as our life savings invested in 401K’s have been devastated, and in some cases made worthless. We have sat in our living rooms stunned as our governments refused to take adequate action against Illegal Aliens that were lowering our wage base, decimating our incomes, stealing our jobs. As the United States Congress tried to ram an Amnesty down our throats we shook our heads in disbelief that our elected officials refused to abide by the wishes of the majority. Against our will, the House of Representatives approved a bailout that will eventually cost us as taxpayers trillions of dollars. Many of us have slid into depression as the stock market crashed, sat in our living rooms mourning as the DOW Jones plummeted under the 9000 mark. Can we be blamed when we ask, “My country, why have thou abandoned me?”

George W. Bush and his advisors including Secretary Paulson are telling us to remain calm that they are working at finding solutions, telling us to be patient and give their bailout a chance to work. With each passing day another pundit such as Ali Velshi trots out in front of the cameras telling us everything is going to be all right, assuring us that we have almost HIT BOTTOM.

What has not been talking about, is those of us who have been destroyed through no fault of our own, where is our bailout? Is it fair that the least deserving in this crisis are being made whole, while the rest of us (the middle class) are asked to pick up the pieces, are asked to sacrifice, asked to tighten up our belts, grin and bear the fact that we are being asked to pay the bill for those who either A) through greed have robbed us blind and crashed our economy, or B) secured mortgages that they could never afford.

If we roll AIG into the mix, the bailout of Wall Street is already costing us as taxpayers right at $1 trillion dollars. In addition to this, we have the FED taking over failed banks, and offering to recapitalize others. Secretary Paulson announced the other day that the treasury would now start lending money on the short market. Additionally, there is a plan afoot to buy mortgages (bad paper) at FACE VALUE from those holding it, then renegotiating a new mortgage on the lowered value of the home with a fixed rate 30 year loan with those in foreclosure. What about the rest of us? It is those very mortgages and foreclosure that have lowered our home values to the point where we are not in upside-down mortgages. Where is the fairness and justice for all in rewarding those who caused the mess while doing nothing for those of us that have paid the ultimate price for their misdeeds and stupidity?

This crisis has already cost our retirement account over $300,000 dollars, and our home has lost over $100,000 in equity. What had seemed like a perfect road to retirement at 60 is now a pathway to a nightmare of broken dreams and promises, a working life that will now have to be extended for years, perhaps even more than a decade. We actually heard John McCain the other day say that our Social Security Benefits (our entitlements) will have to be cut, scaled back as we all pitch in to get through these turbulent times. Excuse me, but each time we get a paycheck, there is a deduction from our pay that is supposed to be matched by our employer and put into a SAFE AND SECURE fund so that we have a safety net, a guaranteed income in our Golden Years. As of today, we have been paying into that fund for almost 40 years! We were told, we were promised by the Social Security Administration that our funds were secure, and based on our contributions; we would receive some $2100 a month in retirement if we retired at the age of 64. Now we are being told, “Sorry Charlie, we lied to you, we have squandered away your security.”

Again, where is our bailout, where is a fund meant to make us whole? Where is the Congress in passing emergency legislation that lets us write these losses off of our taxes this year? Where is a fund, or a plan to renegotiate our mortgages based on the current depressed values of our homes? Where is emergency legislation that allows us to take money out of our 401K’s and Retirement funds without penalties? Where is emergency legislation to change bankruptcy laws, and to put and end to predatory interest rates and fees being charged by credit card companies? Simply stated, when is our government going to bring parity, fairness and justice to the table, when is our government going to take action to make those of us who have played by the rules whole again?

Will DOW Drop Below Nine Thousand?

Another gloomy day on Wall Street as the early morning rally has turned into a late morning sell off as the DOW flirts with DROPPING BELOW NINE THOUSAND! Right now the DOW is just over 9100, perilously close to dipping below the 9,000 mark! This is serious folks, and if the President of The United States does not have the balls to be truthful with us, I will be...WE ARE IN A DEPRESSION not seen since the GREAT DEPRESSION. Wall Street needs to be renamed Fall Street.

The United States of Socialized Banking

According to Secretary Paulson, affectionately called GOD at the Federal Treasury, the bailout bill passed by Congress would give the treasury the right to give banks direct cash infusion in exchange for ownership in those banks! With everything else he has tried failing, Paulson seems about to WADE INTO SOCIALIZED BANKING in yet another attempt to restore confidence in America's financial sector. Here is a CLUE Mr. Paulson...use that money to buy out all first home mortgages in America directly from the property owners, and then remortgage said loans at FED interest rates for 30 years. You can use the interest collected to begin paying down the NATIONAL DEBT. While you are at it, rescend China's Most Favorite Nation trading status.
U.S. May Take Ownership Stake in US Banks
Published: October 8, 2008

WASHINGTON — Having tried without success to unlock frozen credit markets, the Treasury Department is considering taking ownership stakes in many United States banks to try to restore confidence in the financial system, according to government officials.

Shawn Thew/European Pressphoto Agency

Treasury officials say the just-passed $700 billion bailout bill gives them the authority to inject cash directly into banks that request it. Such a move would quickly strengthen banks’ balance sheets and, officials hope, persuade them to resume lending. In return, the law gives the Treasury the right to take ownership positions in banks, including healthy ones.

Christmas Officially Cancelled On Main Street

We regret to inform Main Street America that Christmas 2008 has been officially cancelled. Due to the recent devaluation of Main Street home values as a result of greed and corruption on Wall Street, coupled with our government's rewarding this criminal behavior with a $800 Billion dollar bailout of the UBER RICH's financial holdings are the major factors in this Presidential Decision. In cancelling this end of the year holiday, President George W. Bush, after careful consideration with the Secretary of the Treasury, Mr. Paulson has determined that it would be fiscally irresponsible for the citizens paying for this bailout to frivilously celebrate Christmas in an orgy of unchecked spending on gifts and feasts. You are encouraged to send the money you save in not celebrating Christmas to:

Under One Hour Till Debate...Questions I Would Like To See Answered

1. Wall Street and Washington DC corruption have all but crippled our economy, special interest lobbying and greed having almost destroying the Middle Class. As President, are you willing on your first day in office to close down K Street, and chase the special interest/corporate lobbyists out of town? If yes, how would you go about it, and if not, you have just lost my vote.

2. The National Chamber of Commerce in the name of corporate profits have been protecting illegal aliens for decades in the name of cheap wages. As President, are you willing in your first 100 days ready to A) Close and secure our Southern Border with Mexico, our airports and other entry points, B) Criminalize the hiring and/or aiding and abetting of illegal aliens working in America with a mandatory prison sentence, C)authorize raids at both homes and work places to deport those working here illegally, and D) put a five year moratorium on work visas for people from foreign countries seeking work in America? If you are prepared to take these steps, how would you go about implementing them? If you are not willing to implement these steps, you have just lost my vote.

3. For decades the Federal Government has stolen our Social Security funds, leaving a worthless IOU in their place. Are you willing to take IMMEDIATE measures to repay those funds with interest to SAVE SOCIAL SECURITY for us 75 million Baby Boomers who have been paying into the system now for 30-40 years so that our retirement years are protected?

Our Elected Officials in Senate DUCKING OUR CALLS

What Democracy? Just tried to call TEN DIFFERENT SENATORS, including my own, Senator Hilliary Rodham Clinton, and got recorded messages AT EVERY NUMBER telling me their message boxes were full! In short, they intend to PASS THIS BILL without listening to the voice of the people!

Tarp Over Pile of Shit...The Wall Street Bailout

At least there is one proper labeling in all this...in both the House and Senate, Troubled Asset Relief Program, or TARP is so apropos...let's just cover up all this SHIT with a tarp for 5-10 years until everyone forgets about this mess, then we'll sell this crap on the sly to the UBER rich as rental properties.

Meanwhile, to make this deal more palatable to Main Street America, the Senate has tossed in a few bones for us POOR FOLK. Gee, HOW NICE. You still have not put in anything that saves our homes, you have not put anything in the bill that would restore OUR LOST HOME EQUITY. Instead, all the bill does is Bailout Wall Street, and maybe restore the flow of credit...uhhh, isn't that what GOT US INTO THIS MESS to begin with? Maybe it is time for us to live for awhile without an endless line of credit. Finally, another paragraph I have problems with that gives the Secretary of the Treasury with ABSOLUTE IMPUNITY...in short, he gets to PLAY GOD OF OUR ECONOMY.

(1) AUTHORITY.—The Secretary is authorized to establish the Troubled Asset Relief Program (or‘‘TARP’’) to purchase, and to make and fund commitments to purchase, troubled assets from any financial institution, on such terms and conditions as are determined by the Secretary, and in accordance with this Act and the policies and procedures developed and published by the Secretary.

MEANWHILE, Senator Reid is trying to SCARE US into accepting this bill by dropping hints that a MAJOR insurance company is on the VERGE OF BANKRUPCY...hmmmm...another AIG bailout on the way? Any one care to take a guess on what Insurance Company it is? Prudential? Mutual of Omaha? Travelers? Do we, or should we really care?

The Senate's Wall Street Bailout Bill

I have just now managed to download the Senate's proposed Wall Street BAILOUT BILL and am starting to was through it. My first question...how can Main Street America have a REAL CHANCE to evaluate this bill of over 400 pages BEFORE THE SENATE VOTES ON IT? Trust me folks, they are about to blow something up OUR COLLECTIVE ASSES.

My first bone of contention is the huge BAILOUT LOOP HOLE that would let Wall Street get rid of almost every BAD INVESTMENT they ever bought. It reads:

(B) any other financial instrument that the Secretary, after consultation with the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, determines the purchase of which is necessary to promote financial market stability, but only upon transmittal of such determination, in writing, to the appropriate committees of Congress.

Read it carefully folks...ANY OTHER FINANCIAL INSTRUMENT! This is FAR WORSE THAN A BLANK CHECK.

More as I wade through this Screw Main Street Legislation.

Dissecting Obama's Wisconsin Speech

Remarks of Senator Barack Obama—as prepared for delivery
La Crosse, Wisconsin
Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

We meet here at a time of great uncertainty. Our economy is in crisis. The dreams of so many Americans are at risk. And the American people are waiting for leadership from Washington.

Instead of writing bullet points that make perfect crisp sound bites, how about saying something that has real meaning to it? As example...The dreams of so many Americans are in perile because of Wall Street greed, coupled with a failure at every level of goverment to protect lower and middleclass Americans from unfair competition from abroad, and unchecked illegal immigration at home. Let us as a nation really get to the root of our problems, pull the ugly baby out from under the carpet and have a serious, frank and honest discussion with our candidates. Not deliberately picking on Obama here, will probably vote for him in November, and sure I could just as easily find the same or more egregious concerns and complaints if reviewing a John McCain stump speech.

On Monday, over the course of a few hours, the failure to pass the economic rescue plan in the House led to the single largest decline of the stock market in two decades. Over one trillion dollars of wealth was lost by the time the markets closed. And it wasn’t just the wealth of a few CEOs or Wall Street executives. The 401Ks and retirement accounts that millions count on for their family’s future are now smaller. The state pension funds of teachers and government employees lost billions upon billions of dollars. Hardworking Americans who invested their nest egg to watch it grow are now watching it disappear.

First, do not appreciate Obama trying to rename the Wall Street Bailout to make it more palatable to the masses. The $700 Billion dollar bailout of Wall Street does not become the Economic Rescue Plan because you change its name and add a window dressing change of increading FDIC caps to a quarter of a million dollars...tell us Mr. Obama how many Americans actually have $250,000 in their bank account(s)? This raising of the coverage is SMOKE AND MIRRORS. Yes, our 401 K's and state pension plans have lost money, but lets talk about how Congress over decades has robbed the Social Security Fund blind...how about we bail that out by having Uncle Sam REPAY ALL THOSE IOU's.

But while the decline of the stock market is devastating, the consequences of the credit crisis that caused it will be even worse if we do not act and act immediately.

Call me nuts, but how is borrowing even more money, putting our nation, and thus we the taxpayers further into debt going to SOLVE THE PROBLEM? The layoffs are not going to stop, the equity in our homes is not going to come back because you give $700 Billion dollars of our money to Wall Street because they misused all of their own money. You want to reinstill confidence in the American Economy, do something real for Main Street...as example, how about waving the rules on our 401K's that preclude us from accessing our funds until we are 59 and a half, how about waving taxes and penalties on withdraws from those accounts if said funds are used to pay off our debts. How about putting a 12 percent cap on credit card interest across the board instead of allowing these companies to play the part of the hairy knuckled loan shark.

Because of the housing crisis, we are now in a very dangerous situation where financial institutions across this country are afraid to lend money. If all that meant was the failure of a few big banks on Wall Street, it would be one thing.

Here is a FACT...the crime and unethical behaviors of Wall Street have wiped out the equity many of us had in our homes, resulting in the very real fact that we can't even afford any more to borrow off of that equity. For $1.2 Trillion dollars the Federal Treasure could bail out 20 million homeowners by issuing them $60,000 checks for their lost equity, thus bringing us on Main Street closer to being whole from a financial crisis not of our own making.

But that’s not what it means. What it means is that if we do not act, it will be harder for you to get a mortgage for your home or the loans you need to buy a car or send your children to college. What it means is that businesses won’t be able to get the loans they need to open new factories, or hire more workers, or make payroll for the workers they have. Thousands of businesses could close. Millions of jobs could be lost. A long and painful recession could follow.

Obama, YOU and TV PUNDITS are lying! Bailing out Wall Street IS NOT GOING TO MAKE IT EASIER for us to get loans. Our credit has been, and will continue to be tightened with or without this bailout. Our ability to get a loan depends on our ability to earn a living combined with our net assets verse debt ratio. If our 401K's are devastated, if our home equity is gone, we have no real calateral, and without that calateral, we are not going to be successful in our attempts to get a line of credit.

Let me be perfectly clear. The fact that we are in this mess is an outrage. It’s an outrage because we did not get here by accident. This was not a normal part of the business cycle. This was not the actions of a few bad apples.

Again, this small paragraph is nothing more than fluff, a GREAT SOUNDBITE designed and written for the six o'clock news. Why not lead with the truth that this problemm exists because Wall Street and Washington, DC have been raping America's lower and middle class for almost three decades now!

This financial crisis is a direct result of the greed and irresponsibility that has dominated Washington and Wall Street for years. It’s the result of speculators who gamed the system, regulators who looked the other way, and lobbyists who bought their way into our government. It’s the result of an economic philosophy that says we should give more and more to those with the most and hope that prosperity trickles down to everyone else; a philosophy that views even the most common-sense regulations as unwise and unnecessary. And this crisis is the final verdict on this failed philosophy – a philosophy that we cannot afford to continue.

Lobbyist had a FEEDING FRENZY in Washington, DC last week, and the bill that went before the House, and the Bill going to the Senate show that FACT. There is NOTHING OF MERIT for the lower and middleclass in this bill. You want to stick something in this bill to make it more palatable to the Average American? How about sticking in a one line sentence making E-verify MANDATORY for every small business, company and corporation in America. How about a one line sentence that puts a hold on all work visas for a period of five years. How about a sentence providing the necessary money to A) comnplete the border fence with Mexico, and fund sweeping work place raids across America. How about waving for a period of time the penalties and taxes on 401K withdraws, and while you are at it, make it illegal for employers to keep us from having access to our funds unless we quit our jobs.

But while there is plenty of blame to go around and many in Washington and on Wall Street who deserve it, all of us now have a responsibility to solve this crisis because it affects the financial well-being of every single American. There will be time to punish those who set this fire, but now is the moment for us to come together and put the fire out.

ALL OF US have a responsibility to solve it...tell us Mr. Obama what we on Main Street can do to solve this problem? We cannot sweep Lobbyist out of Washington by changing the laws that let then infest the capital. We cannot enforce the laws already on the books that would penalize, even imprison those in management that are hiring illegal aliens by the MILLIONS. As you once said, those abilities are above my pay grade.

I know that many of you are feeling anxiety right now – about your jobs, about your homes, about your life savings. But I also know this – I know that we can steer ourselves out of this crisis. Because that’s who we are. Because this is the United States of America. This is a nation that has faced down war and depression; great challenges and great threats. And at each and every moment, we have risen to meet these challenges – not as Democrats, not as Republicans, but as Americans. With resolve. With confidence. With that fundamental belief that here in America, our destiny is not written for us, but by us. That’s who we are, and that’s the country we need to be right now.

All you need is the waving flag flying behind you, a group of back up singers softly singing, "My Country Tis of Thee, Sweet Land of Liberty". GIVE US A BREAK, stop with the platitudes. Here is a clue...PAY DOWN THE DEBT, BITCH SLAP CHINA UPSIDE THE HEAD, take away it's favored nation status, and put huge tariffs on their goods until they PLAY FAIR. Deport those here illegally, eliminate all federal funding to communities that act as Safe Havens for illegal aliens, and imprison all those who hire illegal aliens, or aide and abet them in staying here illegally. That would be a start.

This is not just a Wall Street crisis – it’s an American crisis, and it’s the American economy that needs this rescue plan. I understand why people would be skeptical when this President asks for a blank check to solve a problem. I’ve spent most of my time in Washington being skeptical of this Administration, and this time was no different. That’s why over a week ago, I demanded that this plan include specific proposals to protect the American taxpayer – protections that the Administration eventually agreed to, as well as Democrats and Republicans in Congress.

Where are those PROTECTIONS FOR MAIN STREET...I have read it, and more than once. There are no protections for us, there is no changing of the bankrupcy rules so that a judge could protect our family homes! There is no GUARANTEE that those in foreclosure will have their mortgages reworked...there's a single line that ENCOURAGES lending institution to at least think about it.

First, I said we needed an independent board to provide oversight and accountability for how and where this money is spent at every step of the way.

The supposedly INDEPENDENT BOARD is not independent, not without a Pro Wall Street BIAS! The law as written keeps the same FOXES in charge of guarding the hen house.

Second, I said that we cannot help banks on Wall Street without helping the millions of innocent homeowners who are struggling to stay in their homes. They deserve a plan too.

YOU SAID IT, but is it IN THE BILL? NO

Third, I said that I would not allow this plan to become a welfare program for the Wall Street executives whose greed and irresponsibility got us into this mess.

YOU SAID IT, but there is NO REAL LIMIT on Golden Parachutes...there are so many loopholes in the law that even I could drive a semi truck through them to a multi million dollar pay out.

And finally, I said that if American taxpayers are financing this solution, then you should be treated like investors – you should get every penny of your tax dollars back once this economy recovers.

HMMM...if I invested $700 Billion I would EXPECT TO TURN A PROFIT. Tell me Mr. Obama why the word STOCK was replaced with the word WARRANT in the bill. You are a smart man, a Harvard Graduate, so I am sure you are astute enough to know why this was done.

This last part is important, because it’s been the most misunderstood and poorly communicated part of this plan. This is not a plan to just hand over $700 billion of your money to a few banks. If this is managed correctly, we will hopefully get most or all of our money back, or possibly even turn a profit on the government’s investment – every penny of which will go directly back to you, the investor.

I've read the law, have a fair idea of the value on those investments the government is going to purchase...you and Washington are trying to play a SHELL GAME with Main Street. If I borrow $700 Billion to buy depressed assets, and eventually sell said investments for $800 Billion I have not turned a $100 Billion dollar profit...lets factor in A) the cost too taxpayers of running this new asset management program, and B) lets factor in the on going interest on $700 Billion dollars. Even at 4 percent interest we are talking a yearly interest on debt of $2.8 Billion dollars.

The rescue plan now includes those four principles. It also includes a proposal I made yesterday morning to expand federal deposit insurance for families and small businesses across America who have invested their money in our banks. This will boost small businesses, make our banking system more secure, and help restore confidence by reassuring families that their money is safe.

OBAMA, stop trying to blow smoke up the ass of Main Street citizens. I did not graduate from Harvard (cannot afford college), but I can put two and two together and come up with four, and this bill does not add up to four. The things you are claiming are in the bill ARE NOT. Sure, they might appear to be there, but they are not...there are empty bags filled with unenforcable promises.

Even with all these taxpayer protections, this plan is not perfect. Democrats and Republicans in Congress have legitimate concerns about it. I know many Americans share those concerns. But it is clear that this is what we must do right now to prevent a crisis from turning into a catastrophe. That’s why I’ve been reaching out to leaders in both parties to do whatever I can to help pass this plan. That’s why I’ll be flying back to Washington today to cast my vote to safeguard the American economy. And to the Democrats and Republicans who have opposed this plan, I say – step up to the plate and do what’s right for the country, because the time to act is now.

I agree, lets do what is RIGHT FOR AMERICA, not Wall Street, and not politicians who are owned by Corporate Interests. Take this Wall Street Bailout Bill and toss it in the garbage, and instead come to the floor with a Main Street Economic Revitalization Bill...that WILL RESTORE CONFIDENCE, that will solve our problems. Include in that bill a roll back OF ALL GEORGE BUSH TAX CUTS TO THE UBER RICH, and include in a bill an elimination of the Social Security income cap until such time as our Social Security Fund has been repaid every cent stolen from it.

I know many Americans are wondering what happens next. Passing this bill will not be the end of our work to strengthen our economy – it’s just the beginning of a long, hard road ahead. So let me tell you exactly how I’ll move forward as President.

TRUST YOU AND WASHINGTON? Yet again, let you and WASHINGTON put Corporate America first, while giving us some empty promise that our HELPING HAND is coming at some point further down the line...we have been watching that point pushed further and further down the road now for 30 years Mr. Obama.

From the moment I take office, my top priority will be to do everything I can to make sure that your tax dollars are protected. I will demand a full review of this financial rescue plan to make sure that it is working for you. If you – the American taxpayer – are not getting your money back, then we will change how this program is being managed. If need be, we will send new legislation to Congress to make sure that taxpayers are protected in line with the principles that I have put forward. You should expect nothing less from Washington.

With ALL DUE RESPECT Mr. Obama, I know enough about Washington politics to know an EMPTY PROMISE when I hear it.

If we do have losses, I’ve proposed a Financial Stability Fee on the financial services industry so Wall Street foots the bill – not the American taxpayer. And as I modernize the financial system to create new rules of the road to prevent another crisis, we will continue this fee to build up a reserve so that if this happens again, it will be the money contributed by banks that’s put at risk.

HERE IS A WAKE UP CALL Mr. Obama...Wall Street will not pay that tab...any government imposed Financial Stability Fee imposed on Wall Street will simply be passed along to the small Main Street investors as a cost of doing business...in short, we are the ones that will get STIFFED.

This will only work if there is real enforcement and real accountability. And that starts with presidential leadership. So let me be very clear: when I am President, financial institutions will do their part and pay their share, and American taxpayers will never again have to put their money on the line to pay for the greed and irresponsibility of Wall Street. That’s a pledge that I’ll make to you today, and it’s one that I’ll keep as President of the United States.

Curious here...are we going to get the kind of REAL ENFORCEMENT AND ACCOUNTABILITY that has 25 million Illegal Aliens and their 4 million Anchor Babies living in our communities, depressing our wages, and bankrupting our Emergency Rooms? Are we going to get the kind of ENFORCEMENT that looks the other way while the National Chamber of Commerce lobbies The Hill for AMNESTY, and a LIBERAL GUEST WORKER PROGRAM?

Accountability must start with this rescue plan, but it cannot end there. Across Wisconsin – and across the country – families are sitting down at the kitchen table and making hard choices. You’re planning for your future in tough times. You’re squeezing just a little bit more out of next month’s paycheck so you can pay next month’s bills. It’s time for Washington to do the same.

OH MY GAWD...lets get out the violins and cry a river of FAKE TEARS for the cameras here. First, drag out a new line, that one is GETTING OLD. Secondly, you have NO CLUE WHAT WE ARE GOING THROUGH, and McCain with his 13 homes has even less of an idea of what we are going through.

We cannot mortgage our children’s future on a mountain of debt. It’s time to put an end to the run-away spending and the record deficits – it’s not how you would run your family budget, and it must not be how Washington handles your tax dollars. It’s time to return to the fiscal responsibility and pay as you go budgeting that we had in the 1990s. Many in Congress have been fighting for these commonsense principles, and I will be a President who supports them and makes sure they succeed. That’s why I’m not going to stand here and simply tell you what I’m going to spend – I’m going to start by telling you how we’re going to save when I am President.

Let's increase and build our economy by eliminating from the work force illegal aliens who have depressed honest citizens wages by over $230 BILLION DOLLARS A YEAR. Lets pump over $130 billion dollars back into our American Economy by sending back home the 25 Million Illegals who are here in America, and who are sending back to Mexico $130 Billion dollars a year in remittances. Lets build our economy by passing a LIVING WAGE LAW...it is criminal to have a minimum wage of $6.55 per hour.

I will go through the entire federal budget, page by page, line by line, and eliminate the programs that don’t work and aren’t needed. We should start by ending a war in Iraq that is costing us $10 billion a month while the Iraqi government sits on a $79 billion surplus. We should stop sending $15 billion a year in overpayments to insurance companies for Medicare, and go after tens of billions of dollars in Medicare and Medicaid fraud. We need to stop sending three billion a year to banks that provide student loans the government could provide for less. And we can end the hundreds of millions a year in subsidies to agribusiness that can survive just fine without your tax dollars, and use some of the money to help struggling family farmers. That’s what I’ll do as President.

Let's really STOP THE PORK Mr. Obama...we can start with dismantling OPIC (Overseas Private Investment Corporation), thus ending the frequent practice of using our tax dollars too help build infrastructure in foreign coutries, including of all places CHINA! Let's eliminate Political Risk Insurance...we as taxpayers resent our tax dollars being used to protect Corporate America's investments should the politics on the ground in a foreign country change. Let's end the BAILOUT OF THE NUCLEAR INDUSTRY, and do away with the Price Anderson Act that removes the industries liability should an accident occur at a failing nuclear facility such as Indian Point just 24 miles up the Hudson from Manhattan.

And we can’t stop there. We lose $100 billion every year because corporations set up mailboxes offshore so they can avoid paying a dime of taxes in America. In the Senate, I worked across the aisle to crack down on these schemes. And as President, I will shut down those offshore tax havens and all those corporate loopholes once and for all. You shouldn’t have to pay higher taxes because some big corporation cut corners to avoid paying theirs. All of us have a responsibility to pay our fair share. That’s accountability. And that’s what we’ll have when I’m President.

Again, great rhetoric, but neither you or John McCain has shown any real desire to help those of us living on Main Street, and a cursory glance at donors list filed with the FEC show both of you are into the pockets of BIG BUSINESS.

As for the programs we do need, I will make them work better and cost less. I will create a High-Performance Team of experts that evaluates every agency and every office based on how well they’re serving the American taxpayer. I will save billions of dollars by cutting private contractors and improving management and oversight of the hundreds of billions of dollars our government spends on contracts. And I will finally end the abuse of no-bid contracts once and for all – the days of sweetheart deals for Halliburton will be over when I’m in the White House.

BLAH BLAH, Chicken in every pot, BLAH BLAH BLAH, end to corruption, etc. etc. and ect, more hyperbole as the crowd goes into a FRENZY! As the song goes Mr. Obama, "we have heard these handfuls of worn out social promises."

Make no mistake: we need to end an era in Washington where accountability has been absent, oversight has been overlooked, and your tax dollars have been turned over to wealthy CEOs and well-connected corporations. You need leadership that you can trust to work for you – not for the special interests who have had their thumb on the scale. And together, we will tell the Washington lobbyists that their days of setting the agenda are over. They have not funded this campaign, they won’t work in my White House, and they won’t drown out the voices of the American people when I’m President.

Release your list of ADVISORS! Prove to us you mean business, and dismise from your campaign ANY ONE THAT HAS A TIE (direct or indirect) to K Street.

Now, people have asked whether the size of this rescue plan, together with the weakening economy, means that the next President will have to scale back his agenda and some of his proposals. The answer is yes and no. With less money flowing into the Treasury, some useful programs or policies that I’ve proposed on the campaign trail may need to be delayed.

GOD, you are such a politician! Yes, no, delayed...is that like being a little bit pregnant? You talk about CHANGE...start with yourself Mr. Obama...come right out and TELL US THE HARD BITTER TRUTH, have a fire side chat with Americans on Wall Street.

But there are certain investments in our future that we cannot delay precisely because our economy is in turmoil. You can always put off giving your house a new paint job or renovating your kitchen, but when your roof is crumbling or your heater goes, you realize that these are long-term investments you need to make right away.

Sounds good...problem is, you have not laid out anything concrete, and what you have laid out is the same old agenda driven by the UBER Rich and K Street Robber Barons. You promise GREEN JOBS...here is a suggestion...a National Plan to put solar on every home in America, thus preserving BASE LOAD ENERGY for industry needs, while eliminating the need to put TRILLIONS OF OUR TAX DOLLARS into the FAILED NUCLEAR INDUSTRY.

The same is true of our economy. We cannot wait to help Americans keep up with rising costs and shrinking paychecks by giving our workers a middle-class tax cut. We cannot wait to relieve the burden of crushing health care costs. We cannot wait to create millions of new jobs by rebuilding our roads and our bridges and investing in the renewable sources of energy that will stop us from sending $700 billion a year to tyrants and dictators for their oil. And we cannot wait to educate the next generation of Americans with the skills and knowledge they need to compete with any workers, anywhere in the world. Those are the priorities we cannot delay.

You should add to that list the fact that we cannot put off passing a law that creates for every AMERICAN CITIZEN a Living Wage.

As soon as we pass this rescue plan, we need to move with the same sense of urgency to rescue families on Main Street who are struggling to pay their bills and keep their jobs. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: we need to pass an economic stimulus plan that will help folks cope with rising food and gas prices, save one million jobs by rebuilding our schools and roads, and help states and cities avoid budget cuts and tax increases. A plan that would extend expiring unemployment benefits for those Americans who’ve lost their jobs and cannot find new ones.

Get a clue...Economic Stimulus packages are putting a bandaid on a bleeding artery. We need and Emergency National Economic Renewal Bill, we need to cut all needless spending, end all corporate welfare, while at the time taking on whatever debt is required to REBUILD AMERICA's MANUFACTURING INFRASTRUCTURE, returning us again to the top of the heap when it comes to manufacturing and exporting to the world the finest products that hard working Americans can produce. We need to stop importing CHEAP TALENT and instead spend the money necessary to educate HOME GROWN TALENT to fill our high tech jobs.

Beyond this stimulus, we need an economic agenda to restore opportunity for Americans and prosperity to America. So that we’re not borrowing debt from China and buying oil from Saudi Arabia. So that the jobs of the future don’t go to better-educated workers in India and the cars of the future aren’t made in Japan. So that we can leave a legacy of greater opportunity to our children and their children. That is how we will emerge from this crisis stronger and more prosperous than we were before, and that is what I will do as President of the United States.

Sounds good, but where is the prospectus? Spell it out for us, instead of talking in platitudes.

I will begin by reforming our tax code so that it doesn’t reward the lobbyists who wrote it, but the American workers and small businesses who deserve it. I will eliminate capital gains taxes for small businesses and start-ups, so that we can grow our economy and create the high-wage, high-tech jobs of tomorrow.

While you are REWRITING THESE LAWS, change the definistion of SMALL BUSINESS...a small business, a Main Street business DOES NOT HAVE 500 EMPLOYEES!

I will cut taxes – cut taxes – for 95% of all workers and their families. And if you make less than $250,000 a year, you will not see your taxes increase one single dime – because in an economy like this, the last thing we should do is raise taxes on the middle-class.

Here is a CLUE...screw your tax cuts...lets increase taxes until we pay off our debt. I resent the fact that I pay taxes up through April every year just to pay off the interest on debts held by China and other foreign lands.

I will reform our health care system to relieve families, businesses, and the entire economy from the crushing cost of health care by investing in new technology and preventative care. If you have health care, my plan will lower your premiums. If you don’t, you’ll be able to get the same kind of coverage that members of Congress give themselves. And I will stop insurance companies from discriminating against those who are sick and need care the most.

Let's make sure that these health reforms DO NOT GIVE ILLEGAL ALIENS access to our Health Care System, eliminates their ability to use our Emergency Rooms as their personal care physician...fact of the matter is simple...at least one third of those UNINSURED here in America ARE ILLEGAL ALIENS.

To create new jobs, I’ll invest in rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure – our roads, schools, and bridges. We’ll rebuild our outdated electricity grid and build new broadband lines to connect America. And I’ll create the jobs of the future by transforming our energy economy. We’ll tap our natural gas reserves, invest in clean coal, and find ways to safely harness nuclear power. I’ll help our auto companies re-tool so that the fuel-efficient cars of the future are built right here the United States. I’ll make it easier for the American people to afford these new cars. And I’ll invest 150 billion dollars over the next decade in affordable, renewable sources of energy – wind power and solar power and the next generation of biofuels; an investment that will lead to new industries and five million new jobs that pay well and can’t ever be outsourced

You BLEW IT...Nuclear has been being BAILED OUT for over 50 years. Nuclear is asking for trillions in LOAN GUARANTEES, and GNEP will cost American Taxpayers at least $1.5 TRILLION dollars, and is fundamentally flawed...fact, none of the commercial reactors now operating in America, and none of the proposed new reactors the industry want to build CAN USE THE FUEL THAT WOULD BE CREATED through GNEP's unproved technology. Further, GNEP would make AMERICA the DUMPING GROUND for almost the entire world's SPENT FUEL NUCLEAR WASTE STREAMS!

And if I am President, I will meet our moral obligation to provide every child a world-class education, because it will take nothing less to compete in the global economy. I’ll invest in early childhood education. I’ll recruit an army of new teachers, and pay them higher salaries and give them more support. But in exchange, I will ask for higher standards and more accountability. And we will keep our promise to every young American – if you commit to serving your community or your country, we will make sure you can afford a college education.

You support the DREAM ACT Mr. Obama that foists the cost of educating illegal aliens of school age off on the American Taxpayer. The time has come to deny illegal aliens AND THEIR CHILDREN access to our educational system except on a PAY AS YOU GO TUITION BASIS.

Finally, I will modernize our outdated financial regulations and put in the place the common-sense rules of the road I’ve been calling for since March – rules that will keep our market free, fair, and honest; rules that will make sure Wall Street can never get away with the stunts that caused this crisis again.

You have been in the Senate now for how long, yet have only been calling for a changing of the rules since the CRISIS BEGAN?

These are the changes and reforms that we need. Bottom-up growth that will create opportunity for every American. Investments in the technology and innovation that will restore prosperity and lead to new jobs and a new economy for the 21st century. Common-sense regulations for our financial system that will prevent a crisis like this from ever happening again.

As long as you are hung up on selling America on the Hydrogen (nuclear driven) economy, your plan and America are doomed to failure.

I won’t pretend this will be easy or come without cost. We will all need to sacrifice and we will all need to pull our weight because now more than ever, we are all in this together. What this crisis has taught us is that at the end of the day, there is no real separation between Main Street and Wall Street. There is only the road we’re traveling on as Americans – and we will rise or fall on that journey as one nation; as one people.

SHARED BURDEN...John McCain and his wife have 13 houses! Almost every member of both the House and Senate are millionairs many times over. Our elected officials in Washington, DC have never met a pay raise for themselves they did not like...tell us Mr. Obama how you and every other elected officials are going to share in this SHARED SACRIFICE for a better tomorrow?

This country and the dream it represents are being tested in a way that we haven’t seen in nearly a century. And future generations will judge ours by how we respond to this test. Will they say that this was a time when America lost its way and its purpose? When we allowed our own petty differences and broken politics to plunge this country into a dark and painful recession?

HELLO, we here on Main Street ARE ALREADY IN A RECESSION, and a great deal of the reason for that is ILLEGAL ALIENS, and a raping of America by Wall Street, Corporate America, the National Chamber of Commerce, and our own government.

Or will they say that this was another one of those moments when America overcame? When we battled back from adversity by recognizing that common stake that we have in each other’s success?

You tell us Mr. Obama...the ball is NOT IN OUR COURT, it is in your court, in Wall Street's court, in the Natonal Chamber of Commerce's court.

This is one of those moments. I realize you’re cynical and fed up with politics. I understand that you’re disappointed and even angry with your leaders. You have every right to be. But despite all of this, I ask you to believe – believe in this country and your ability to change it. I ask you what has been asked of the American people in times of trial and turmoil throughout history – what was asked at the beginning of the greatest financial crisis this nation ever endured. In his first fireside chat, Franklin Roosevelt told his fellow Americans that “..there is an element in the readjustment of our financial system more important than currency, more important than gold, and that is the confidence of the people themselves. Confidence and courage are the essentials of success in carrying out our plan. Let us unite in banishing fear. Together, we cannot fail.”

Tell that to the Sheet Rocker who has lost his $18 per hour sheet rocking job t an illegal alien willing to work under the table for $100 a day. Tell that to the Wal Mart employee working for slave wages of $6.55 per hour. Tell that to the American child that is not being properly educated because our teachers are having to spend to much of their time teaching people who should not be here, who do not speak our language, who are stealing our AMERICAN DREAM. Yes, I/we are angry, and we are tired of these bullshit speeches, tired of the rhetoric...we want CONCRETE ideas spelled out in Black and White. What is your position on Illegal Aliens? Where do you stand on punishing companies that hire illegal aliens? Where do you stand on a living wage, something the National Chamber of Commerce has opposed FOR DECADES.

America, together, we cannot fail. Not now. Not when we have a crisis to solve and an economy to save. Not when there are so many Americans without jobs and without homes. Not when there are families who can’t afford to see a doctor, or send their child to college, or pay their bills at the end of the month. Not when there is a generation that is counting on us to give them the same opportunities and the same chances that we had for ourselves.

Not to be a cynic...saving America for the next generation is all well and fine, but what about THIS GENERATION? What about the 75 million baby boomers who have sweated blood for America, who have paid into the Social Security System for decades, have given their all for the RED, WHITE and BLUE...what about US, what about our generation, and our supposed Golden Years? The mismangement of our nation has robbed us of our American Dream, yet none of you in Washington have said anything about saving America FOR US, instead asking us to sacrifice for those who will follow in our footsteps.

We can do this. Americans have done this before. Some of us had grandparents or parents that said maybe I can't go to college but my child can; maybe I can't have my own business but my child can. I may have to rent, but maybe my children will have a home they can call their own. I may not have a lot of money but maybe my child will run for Senate. I might live in a small village but maybe someday my son can be president of the United States of America.

With all DUE RESPECT, this is the same crock of SHIT that Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson and Nixon spewed forth to my parents. Now you want to trot it out again, ask us to JUST BE PATIENT, skip our turn so that the next generation MIGHT have theirs?

Now it falls to us. Together, we cannot fail. And I need you to make it happen. If you want the next four years looking just like the last eight, then I am not your candidate. But if you want real change - if you want an economy that rewards work, and that works for Main Street and Wall Street; if you want tax relief for the middle class and millions of new jobs; if you want health care you can afford and education that helps your kids compete; then I ask you to knock on some doors, make some calls, talk to your neighbors, and give me your vote on November 4th. And if you do, I promise you - we will win Wisconsin, we will win this election, and we will change America together. Thank you La Crosse, God bless you, and may God bless America.

YEAH YEAH YEAH...close with a nice STRONG SALES PITCH. You want to show you are about change Mr. Obama...create a Cabinet Position for the Middle Class, fill that seat on your cabinet with an ORDINARY AVERAGE PERSON who lives the Main Street Life. In short, give us a REAL VOICE in your administration.

How About a Bailout For Main Street Instead of Wall Street?

The Wall Street Bailout From The Perspective Of One Middle Class American

Lets stop listening to the pundits on CNN and FOX for a few minutes, and examine the defeated Bailout For Wall Street from the perspective of Main Street America. If you agree with me, contact your elected officials and tell them we want a Main Street Bailout instead of a Wall Street Bailout that simply reapportions more of OUR WEALTH into the hands of the UBER RICH.

The Bailout of Wall Street Bill went down in flames today for various reasons, primary among them thin skinned Republicans voting not for the country, but out of anger as they swiped out angrily at Democrats, specific among them Nancy Pelosi. There will be no revote before Thursday because someone decided the Jewish Holiday was far more important than our nation…sorry, I have a problem with that one. Surely God would understand breaking the Sabbath in a National Time of Need? The bill as it exists is a farce that does absolutely nothing for Main Street America, no matter what pundits such as Ali Velchi say, no matter how much they try to convince us otherwise. The bill should go back to square one, the lobbyist should be LOCKED OUT OF THE HALLS OF CONGRESS, and a new bill should be written.

The Troubled Asset Relief Fund:

Bill authorizes $700 billion for the fund in installments. Treasury gets $250 billion, with an additional $100 billion immediately accessible, and with no strings attached to it. Congress supposedly has the option of blocking the $350 billion by issuing a joint resolution within 15 days of the request. Problem is, the President could simply veto said resolution, and unless there are enough politicians to override the veto, Wall Street gets the money…in short, the resolution out is nothing more than a paper tiger with no teeth.

How it all is supposed to work:

Treasury (specifically Mr. Paulson) will hire asset managers from his close circle of out of work friends who will figure out how to buy bad loans and other ailing assets from financial institutions. Those OTHER AILING ASSETS are not defined, left instead up to the discretion of one Secretary Paulson! Other details, such as pricing and purchase procedures, are left to the sole discretion of the Secretary of the Treasury and his hand picked staff

The bill would require the Treasury to establish guidelines for pricing, setting value of troubled assets, and mechanisms for purchasing assets, procedures for selecting asset managers and criteria for identifying troubled assets to buy, all within 45 days of the legistlation being passed and signed into law. If you start doing the math, Mr. Paulson would have started writing out BIG CHECKS to Wall Street just in time for Christmas. Perhaps the Republicans refused to vote in favor of the bailout today as the bill was not a big enough Golden Parachute to give to their friends as they give up the White House.

The bill would require the Treasury to purchase assets at the lowest price, most likely through auction, and occassionally directly from institutions. Problem with an auction…the UBER RICH will scoop up the BEST of these lousy assets, and leave us the taxpayers with the pits while the Buffett’s of the world scope up the cherries.

Executive compensation:

The legislation supposedly placed restrictions on executive compensation for certain companies that sell assets to Treasury. In reality, there are so many ways to dance around this salary limit that it amounts to nothing more than window dressing meant to apease the masses here in Main Street.

As a part of the bailout, taxpayers were supposed to get an Equity stake in the companies we were bailing out. Instead of an equity stake, Congress created a second tier profit picture for these companies. Instead of receiving stocks, the legislation has the Treasury receiving warrants from the companies that participate in the program. First, a warrant gives the holder the right to buy stock later on at a HIGHER PRICE than it is currently being sold for! So, right now the stock is worth a buck or two. We buy all their crappy assets, we SAVE THE COMPANY, their stock prices start RISING, and then we can go in and buy stock at the now elevated price! WOW, can I have that deal? Even these warrants are not all they are cracked up to be, and there is a HUGE LOOPHOLE…if the treasure buys assets at auction (as most purchases would be) the treasure would only get a small handful of non-voting warrants. Only when the Treasury buys assets directly from an all but failed company would it get a majority equity stake (still in warrants, rather than stock).

Oversight:

In a word…NONE! The oversight was window dressing meant again to apease the masses while having no real teeth. The supposed oversight committee would have the SAME FOXES guarding the hen house.

Protecting taxpayers:

We ARE NOT PROTECTED! Sure, if after five years the treasure has a net loss, the president will be required to submit a legislative proposal to seek reimbursement from the financial institutions that participated. OH WOW! So, the president submits a proposal to the Congress asking them to pass legislation that would make Wall Street reimburse the government for our losses. The proposal is submitted to Congress, the Lobbyist on K Street throw a few campaign donations around, pay for a few trips to exotic places, and WALLA the proposal goes to committee where it is sent down to a sub-committee never to be heard from again!

Help for homeowners:

Again, WHAT HELP, there is NONE. The Secretary will "encourage the servicers of the underlying mortgages" to help minimize foreclosures. Doesn’t that make you feel BETTER? The treasury will ask those we are giving $700 Billion dollars to BE NICE, to work with us rather than take our homes away! Best case scenerio…to make it look good, every one will get and EXTRA 30 days before these financial institutions move to foreclose on your home. Think about it, they foreclose on your home, and have an INSTANT BUYER in the treasury!

Insurance:

What a BONANZA for financial institutions…yet another new product they can foist off on us the homeowner. How long do you think it will be before we are REQUIRED to have Mortgage Guard insurance on our loan at a yearly cost of a couple extra thousand dollars a year!

That is the bill in a nutshell…tell me Main Street, what is in it for us? What safeguards were put into the bill for us? Do you see anything that will RESTORE OUR LOST HOME EQUITY that was squandered away by Wall Street? The pundits want to run to the ramparts shouting their warnings to all who will hear, “The market lost one and a half TRILLION dollars today, the SKY IS FALLING!” I personally have lost over $60,000 worth of Equity in my home as a result of Wall Street. Multiply that times say 20 Million homes, and Main Street has lost $1.2 Trillion of our equity in our homes! Where is our bailout? Maybe, just maybe…instead of bailing out Wall Street, the Congress should bailout Main Street! Renegotiate every foreclosed mortgage in a fashion that lets people keep their homes. Figure out neighborhood by neighborhood how much each home owner has lost in equity, and WRITE US OUT A CHECK! That money would be put back into the economy, rather than being BANKED by the rich and elite who are asking us to pay off their gambling debts.

Vote is 199 For, 223 Against...Leadership LOST BAILOUT VOTE...Nut KICKING WILL BEGIN!

The BAILOUT BILL is going DOWN TO DEFEAT unless the Leadership in the House makes some back room deals TO BUY SOME VOTES!

DOW IS CRASHING AND BURNING...DOWN 520!

Time To Change America's Federal Reserve?

The American Dream is owning a house...or at least a part of the American Dream. That dream is crumbling as millions of foreclosures force people out of their houses, and devastate the property values of those who are still staying solvent. Meanwhile, Congress wants to bailout the BIG GUY on Wall Street, absorb their debts on the guise it WILL SAVE OUR ECONOMY, keep us employed. I disagree, and offer up another plan based on simple facts of life.

1. Why is OUR MONEY (taxes) lent to various banking institutions are DIRT CHEAP INTEREST rates, then lent to us at a King's Ransom? We pay our taxes, the government takes that money into its treasury, then lends it out to banks. Here is a better idea...take the banking industry out of the FIRST HOME MORTGAGE business. How many Americans could EASILY afford a home if our interest rates were 2.5-5 percent instead of 5.4-14 percent? Owning a home should not be a priviledge, but a right, and until we take the profit motive out of a home loan, too many American citizens are denied that right, denied the American Dream.

Keep in mind, that those people now in foreclosure were able to afford their monthly mortgage when they were paying teaser rates of 3.5-6 percent. It was not until the interest rates started going through the roof that they lost their ability to make their monthyly payments. Let's ELIMINATE THE MIDDLEMEN in the first home mortgage business, and pass laws that allow EVERY LEGAL AMERICAN CITIZENS over 18 to secure funding for home purchase directly from the treasury at the same interests rates they give when lending money to financial institutions.

2. Stop the stagnant/downward spiral of Lower and Middleclass wage earners with a two step process. A) Eliminate any ability for a person to work in America as an ILLEGAL ALIEN. B) Pass a federal law that pegs whatever the minimum wage is to the rate of inflation. It is recommended that this law apply across ALL WAGES paid, and not just those earning minimum wage.

3. Protect Lower and Middleclass wagee earners Social Security by eliminating the cap on wages subject to Social Security taxes...the current system penalizes those in lower income brackets. Further, force the Federal Government to REPAY THE IOU's they have put in the Social Security Jar so that the Social Security System running out of money is a NON-ISSUE...we paid into the system, and when we as Boomers retire, we are ENTITLED to our Social Security.

The members of Congress need to, "Just Say No" to this Pork Barrel bill that awards those who caused this mess by A) putting them in charge of fixing the mess, and B) bailing them out at the expense of the Middle and Lower class citizens of America. All the pundits on the airwaves would have us believe this is a pill WE MUST SWALLOW. Fact is, it is a pill they want us to swallow so that they, and their kind do not SUFFER.

The Steps I woudl recommend to start returning America to our glorious past:

1. Campaign finance reform...take all special interest, corporate and PAC money out of the campaigns.

2. Make lobbying ILLEGAL.

3. Bring our troops home from both Iraq and Afghanistan...victory is no longer worth the cost. Use our troops to secure our borders, to deport those who are here illegally.

4. Put a 12 percent cap on ALL CREDIT CARD Interest. End predatory lending, and Robber Baron interest rates of these companies.

5. Socialized Lending for all first home mortgages.

6. End all tax supported subsidy of Corporate America...IE, the nuclear industry wants us the tax payer to pick up a $1.5 Trillion dollar tab on the next gneration of Nuclear Reactors. Let them pay for their own reactors, their own research, and their OWN WASTE.

Ali, CNN's Money Man Is Mouth Piece For Wall Street Bailout Legilation Part One

To listen to Ali, we in the Middle Class should be jumping for joy...I find it offensive that he is trying to SELL the agreement/bill that Wall Street Lobbyist have played such a crucial role in writing. I have started to break down the proposed legislation, and am posting what I have so far that concerns me.

The Bill as written cannot and will not meet its very purpose. It’s a false mandate that spends $770 Billion dollars of our money, while creating a whole new agency with all of its inherent financial costs with, of all people, Mr. Paulson have the powers of a GOD! It’s George W. Bush and Mr. Paulson’s original 3.5 page bill with a whole bunch of fluff added to it that provides America’s Middle Class ZERO PROTECTIONS.

The purposes of this Act are—

(1) To immediately provide authority and facilities that the Secretary of the Treasury can use to restore liquidity and stability to the financial system of the United States; and

(2) To ensure that such authority and such facilities are used in a manner that—

(A) Protects home values, college funds, retirement accounts, and life savings;

(B) preserves homeownership and promotes jobs and economic growth;

(C) Maximizes overall returns to the taxpayers of the United States; and

(D) Provides public accountability for the exercise of such authority.

If you read the bill completely, or browse through the section provided here, you will see it does none of the above. There is no mechanism to protect our home values, and in fact said values will continue to drop, with no mechanism in place to make us whole, to bailout our own failing assets. The bill fails to promote home ownership, as there is no mechanism in place to address the egregious reality that our first homes are not adequately protected in Bankruptcy Courts, and that judges are powerless to step in and take appropriate steps from the bench to protect our homes, to keep us in them. Further, this bill will not promote job growth, and in fact economists on both sides of this bill have said the bailout will not stop the continued erosion of jobs, nor slow the flow of the recession we as a nation are in.

AUTHORITY.—The Secretary is authorized to establish a troubled asset relief program (or ‘‘TARP’’) to purchase, and to make and fund commitments to purchase, troubled assets from any financial institution, on such terms and conditions as are determined by the Secretary, and in accordance with this Act and the policies and procedures developed and published by the Secretary.

Read this paragraph…the bill is giving one Mr. Paulson, formerly of Goldman Sak’s and his cronies the ability and legal right to establish A) a new program/agency, B) make the rules by which it will abide by, C) establish the criteria that decides what assets will and will not be bought out, as well as the price to be paid for those assets, and D) gives him the right to make all these rules in a very DICTATORIAL fashion. There is no real oversight, no checks and balances, no one but a dishonest Wall Street insider guarding the hen house. It gets even worse when you realize the bill also gives Mr. Paulson sole rights and discretion to decide who will work inside this newly created labyrinth. This is reminiscent of the fatally flawed legislation that created the NRC, while failing to give Congress any meaningful oversight of the agency.

The Secretary shall implement any program under paragraph (1) through an Office of Financial Stability, established for such purpose within the Office of Domestic Finance of the Department of the Treasury, which office shall be headed by an Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, appointed by the President, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate.

When you read that the office shall be run by A POLITICAL APPOINTEE, you are being told this new office will be around for ever, and that it will be a highly political position, a plumb AWARDED to those deserving souls that wrote out the right kinds of checks, or did the right kind of favors during a Presidential Election year. This reality is born out in the next section when you read:

Section 5315 of title 5, United States Code, is amended in the item relating to Assistant Secretaries of the Treasury, by striking ‘‘(9)’’ and inserting ‘‘(10)’’.

So, this Emergency Legislation, this BAILOUT OF WALL STREET for Wall Street FAT CATS is creating a permanent new program, and increasing permanently the number of POLITICAL APPOINTEES nominated by the President from 9 to 10. These are PLUMB JOBS with many perks, including a very nice six figure income, a spacious office, and a lavish government expense account. Worse, such a position and the person who holds it is going to be the target of a lot of Special Interest lobbying on a never ending basis.

If you read the next section, we need to tell our elected officials to exercise GREAT CAUTION…the Secretary is only required TO CONSULT with others, but there is nothing in the entire law that LIMITS HIS POWERS, or instructs him/her to abide by or accept any of the counsel they would be getting in consulting with others.

The Secretary is authorized to take such actions as the Secretary deems necessary to carry out the authorities in this Act, including, without limitation, the following:

(1) The Secretary shall have direct hiring authority with respect to the appointment of employees to administer this Act.

(2) Entering into contracts, including contracts for services authorized by section 3109 of title 5, United States Code.

(3) Designating financial institutions as financial agents of the Federal Government, and such institutions shall perform all such reasonable related to this Act as financial agents of the FederalGovernment as may be required.

(4) In order to provide the Secretary with the flexibility to manage troubled assets in a manner designed to minimize cost to the taxpayers, establishing vehicles that are authorized, subject to supervision by the Secretary, to purchase troubled assets and issue obligations.

(5) Issuing such regulations and other guidance as may be necessary or appropriate to define terms or carry out the authorities or purposes of this Act.

Ask yourselves if you trust ANY ONE MAN (or woman) with this much uncontrolled, unchecked power. There are no safeguards built in here, this is FAR MORE THAN A BLANK CHECK.

PREVENTING UNJUST ENRICHMENT.—In making purchases under the authority of this Act, the Secretary shall take such steps as may be necessary to prevent unjust enrichment of financial institutions participating in a program established under this section, including by preventing the resale of a troubled asset to the Secretary at a higher price than what the seller paid to purchase the asset.

There is a very KEY REASON this section is worded this way, it is a LOOPHOLE they do not want us the taxpayer to catch…we are supposed to feel all warm and fuzzy good that the Secretary will be prevently UNJUST ENRICHMENT by being careful not to buy assets from these companies for more than the companies PAID FOR THEM! Hello, without exception, most of these assets are worth FAR LESS than what was paid for them! How about changing the above to read that a fair market price will be ascertained for the assets, not to exceed the price the seller paid to purchase the asset, but which may be less? Remember how we as citizen taxpayers were supposed to be protected trough OWNERSHIP…don’t hold your breath.

If the Secretary establishes the program authorized under section 101, then the Secretary shall establish a program to guarantee troubled assets, including mortgage-backed securities issued prior to March 18, 2008.

(2) GUARANTEES.—In establishing any program under this subsection, the Secretary may develop guarantees of troubled assets and the associated premiums for such guarantees. Such guarantees and premiums shall be determined by category or class of the securities to be guaranteed.

(3) EXTENT OF GUARANTEE.—upon request of a financial institution, the Secretary may guarantee the timely payment of principal of, and interest on, troubled assets in amounts not to exceed 100 percent of such payments. Such guarantee may be on such terms and conditions as are determined by the Secretary, provided that such terms and conditions are consistent with the purposes of this Act.

Someone tell me I am wrong here…I am reading here that a situation/program would be created wherein the company gets to KEEP AND ASSET, and have the treasury paying the interest and principle on the load that secures that asset?

If this is true, this is INSANITY.

Stopping here on the draft and posting it to my blog as I have just learned that a NEW FINAL agreement has just been released by the Congress…BE AFRAID PEOPLE, be very, very afraid.
